This photograph was taken late afternoon on firing day. The fire has already been burning for several hours, and the kiln is at its peak temperature. The top and the firedoor of the kiln have been sealed with clay to begin the reduction process. Potter Leopoldo Barranco is checking for and sealing any remaining leaks.
